Flipic Pro
To be upfront: the free version is probably all you need.
Viewing, instant RAW previews, ratings, marks, filtering by rating, export to folder, side-by-side comparison and Cleanup Mode are free and open source, and they will stay out of Pro.
Pro adds a few batch and pro tools for photographers who go through hundreds or thousands of photos at a time. If you mostly look at photos and pick a few now and then, you won’t need it.
If you do sort large shoots every week, try it for 14 days and buy it only if it saves you time. Pro sales pay for Flipic’s upkeep, and the free version keeps getting updates alongside it.
You don’t need Pro if you
- just want to double-click a photo and page through the folder
- rate or mark a few photos now and then and export them to a folder
- clean up duplicate or blurry photos from your phone
- Free and open source
- 2.4 MB download
- macOS 13 or later
- Apple silicon and Intel
- Notarized by Apple
- Offline by default
Flipic is a Mac app and can't be installed on a phone. Copy the address and open it in a browser on your Mac.
What Pro adds
Before & after
Stack the original and the edit. Hold \ to see the original, let go to see the edit. Or drag a split line, or fade the edit’s opacity. Pairs are found by file name: IMG_1234.RAF with IMG_1234-Edit.jpg, or the same name in an export folder.
Merge JPG and RAW
When your camera shoots JPG + RAW, each pair shows as one photo, so the count stops doubling. Press V to switch. Ratings, marks, export and delete treat the pair as one.
Sort into folders by rating
After rating, copy or move the whole folder into “5 stars”, “4 stars”… subfolders in one step.
Favorite folders
Set up to nine folders and press ⌥1–⌥9 to copy or move the current photo there.
Delete what you didn’t pick
After marking or rating, move the rest to the Trash in one step, and put them back right away if you change your mind.
Send a batch to your editor
Open the photos you filtered in Lightroom, Photoshop or Capture One at once; RAW files go when there is one.
Custom linked files
Choose which same-name files travel with a photo when you copy, move or delete it: xmp, dop, pp3, or JPG and RAW.
